Buying Your First Boat

RULES OF THE ROAD

for Power Boaters
and Sailors

published by

OceanRoseLogo.jpg

F.C. Pierce developed his ten rules for buying your first boat over the decade he spent buying and selling boats. Being a licensed, professional yacht broker required not only a deep knowledge of boats, but the ability to listen to the clients’ needs and respond positively with information that supported their goals. He learned to ask questions, not only about the kind of boat clients wanted to own but their plans for how they intended to use the boat and with whom. The answers formed the basis for this book. Because Pierce has been on both sides of the boat sales process, he knows what it takes to make it successful. Follow his course to find the right boat for you.

BIO

Frederick Craig Pierce (FC Pierce) was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1947 and grew up outside of Philadelphia where he attended the Haverford school from Kindergarten through twelfth grade – interrupted by a two-year stint at the Choate School (now Choate Rosemary Hall) in Connecticut—graduating in 1965. He enrolled at the University of North Carolina but left for New York City after three years, where he studied acting at The Neighborhood Playhouse under Sanford Meisner. He spent the next twenty plus years acting, during which time, he received a BA in Psychology in 1988 from the New School.

In 2002, he moved to California where he found his “dream job” as a yacht broker in Santa Barbara. In 2012 he moved back to Boston to be near his children and grandchildren and decided it was time ("If not now? When?") to pursue his lifelong dream of being a writer. He began taking classes at Grub Street, a well- respected, Boston based creative writing center where he has studied for the next five years.

His very first short story submission, Sea Horse, was accepted in November of 2017 by Narrative Magazine and was published as a story of the week in the Spring of 2018. Since then, his second story, When You Gotta Go, a murder mystery with a (humorous?) twist will be published in November of 2018 as part of a short story collection by Level Best Books, called Landfall. It will be available in book stores as well as online.

Mr. Pierce is also the author of Buying Your First Boat, Rules of the Road for Power Boaters and Sailors, by FC Pierce (Ocean Rose publications) a guide for first time boat buyers, based on his lifelong love of boats and his decade as a yacht broker. It is available on Amazon Books. You can contact him at fcpiercewriter@gmail.com
